Pokemon Plamo M Blaziken Model
I’ve had this like 3/4 of the way done for something close to over a month now and I just hadn’t found the energy or the want to do model work, but I had a spark today so I finally got the last details finished so I could assemble him completely.
The Plamo models are a very inexpensive kit, most of them only costing just shy of $10 off the shelf in Japan, and it shows that they’re a ‘baby’s first model kit’ kind of thing for their simplified instructions and cheap plastic. They do have their own kit frustrations, i.e. some parts can be a pain in the butt to put together, but most of them are quite simplified.
The big downside to Plamo is that all their detailing — and I mean literally all of the details — are left to stickers. Stickers. Low quality ones at that. I only used the eye sticks and the back of crest stickers on this one, as the head crest actually isn’t filled in, and painted everything else. Eventually when I have more will and I’m less broken I’ll epoxy the back of the head and properly paint it in afterward, but that’s way down the track.
Used some new shellac paints on this with super metallic properties and I love the way they turned out, and because of how they dry and harden it gives the plastic some more stability and protection overall; the rest was done with standard enamels. Flames detailed with a gundam ラメ sparkle gold, and panel lines for some areas in grey and black.
Pretty happy with how he turned out!
